This Neurosurgeon Travels to Nigeria Every Month to Perform Free Surgeries

Dr. Olawale Sulaiman holds a prestigious position with the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute in New Orleans. He could revel in the glory of changing his stars from a small home on Lagos Island, but this neurosurgeon gives back every month.

He donates up to 12 days every month in Nigeria to provide healthcare to those who need it. Dr. Sulaiman’s work doesn’t always carry a price tag with it either.

Nigeria’s healthcare system is in such a poor condition that there aren’t enough people to deliver essential services. Sulaiman says that he uses his knowledge to improve that situation because giving back is the only option.

RNZ Global Provides Multiple Healthcare Options

Dr. Sulaiman established a company called RNZ global with Patricia, his wife, in 2010. They provide medical services, health courses, and first aid learning opportunities in the United States and Nigeria.

He uses his vacation time to provide medical missions, education opportunities, and training sessions in Nigeria to those who need it the most.

Sulaiman even negotiated a 25% pay cut so that he could provide preventative medicine and surgical procedures in Nigeria more often. RNZ Global has cared for up to 5,000 people since its founding, including the direct treatment of 500 people.

The patients who receive his care say that Sulaiman’s interventions are life-changing. One man couldn’t even stand up straight because his spinal pain was so intense. One procedure relieved the pressure and brought immediate relief.

Sulaiman’s goal is to establish four neuroscience centers in Nigeria, eventually. He says that there’s always room to give, and you don’t need to be a millionaire to do so.
